I'm a friendly and encouraging cello teacher who can also teach music theory, notation and music production (Sibelius and Pro Tools, and recording theory), and guitar. I'm patient and understanding, and I take great joy in helping someone learn an instrument, always with a focus on making it an enjoyable experience.

I have been learning cello since I was 6 years old, and I have taught cello for around 11 years. I hold a BA (Hons) in Music and an MA in Sound Production, while I am also one half of an indie-folk band where I play cello and sing. I also regularly play cello with a number of critically acclaimed musical acts, and have been involved in numerous recording sessions over the years.

I am also PVG certified.

I take a highly personalised and enthusiastic approach to lessons, being patient enough to thoroughly improve technique while progressing fast enough to maintain excitement. I can produce pieces tailor-made for individual pupils to cover specific techniques, while incorporating styles/genres that interest the pupil.

I have a knowledge based in classical playing, but I can teach improvisation and rhythmic styles such as chopping for those who are less interested in classical music.

I charge £38 per hour, which can be one hour, 45 minutes or 30 minutes, depending on what works best for you. I can teach from my flat in Morningside or I can travel to you for lessons if you prefer.
